Mid Life Crisis or Mid Life Opportunity?
Dear %$firstname$%
Entering a New Year feels good doesn’t it? Fresh starts offer hope, promise, and that an image of getting a second chance…a clean slate if you will.
Yet, sometimes there’s also a little turbulence going on underneath. I talk a lot about this in my book .
The feeling that you are running out of time certainly creates a lot of “head drama,” that manifests as confusion, doubt, guilt and worry. If you are age 40 or beyond you know exactly what I’m talking about. Recently I found a video clip that confirms what I knew intuitively.
I’m known for getting to the core of the message so let me give it to you straight: Around the world (except in very under developed countries) we all experience life in much the same stages.
Stage 1: Exciting and fun
Stage 2: Accomplishment and dreams
Stage 3: Disillusionment and “the search”
Stage 4: Acceptance and Reinvention
Stage 5: Reinvention and Fulfillment
Stage 1 is your 20’s. The world is your oyster and you have the buffer of time so you don’t worry about your mistakes. Stage 2 is your 30’s. You are ready to accomplish, climb the corporate ladder or become an entrepreneur. Stage 4 is your 40’s. According to research this is that turbulent time where you are most likely to go through an unhappiness dip. Time is running out. You get divorced you lose a job. You have regrets. You ask, “Is this as good as it gets?”
Good News: After age 44 you enter into that period we call reinvention and you start getting happy again.
The truth is, all of us go through many stages throughout our lives but the good news is each MOMENT offers a chance to make conscious changes. That’s what I’m going to be talking about on January 14th. I hope you’ll join me.
