A Message from Marlene
You have heard me say it a million times: in all types of drama there is always a lack of clarity. So often we think we are being clear by stating what we don't want. While it is good to know what you don't want, that is not enough information to gain clarity or to communicate our needs.

For example, the statements,  "I don't want to  argue," or "Why do we always have to argue" are just unmet needs disguised as a complaint, gripe or innuendo. 
So, while it's good to know what you don't want, the next step is to formulate a sentence that conveys specifically what you do want, for example, "I want us to come to agreement within two weeks." Ask yourself where you need to clarify what you really want.
